Dear Farm Press,

In your February 5th article “Oklahoma geneticist seeking Resistance to powdery mildew in watermelons” there is a statement that needs to be clarified.

It was not our intention to imply that resistance to strobilurin fungicides such as Quadris and Flint has been observed in Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. To the best of our knowledge, there are no documented cases of cucurbit powdery mildew resistance development to these compounds in this region. In fact, cucurbit field plots at Oklahoma State University from 1996 to 2002 have not shown any resistance development or control failures.
