Max Armstrong talks about combine safety. (audio)

The name of Otto Warmbier was heard round the world this morning. He’s the 22-year-old who was taken captive in North Korea and shipped back home in a coma, dying six days later. In last 20 years, 16 American citizens have been detained by North Korea and three are still there.

4% soybeans harvested and 7% corn harvested. Watch for combine and field fires this fall. Firefighters could be very busy with dry conditions with several areas being dry. If your area is very dry, it might be wise to keep tractor and tillage tool nearby. Cleaning combine takes on greater significance with warm and windy conditions. Combine fire is a hot fire. A combine burned in central Illinois yesterday.

This is National Farm Safety and Health Week observed every September. He suggested it would be better to center around harvest than to have in July. It’s a good time to remind you or your farmer of the need to work with care every day.
