Folks in West Texas, northwest Oklahoma and southern Kansas are mourning. They have lost much, but they have been buoyed up by the kindness and generosity of friends and neighbors and people they don’t know.
Journalists are human, subject to mistakes. I’ve made my fair share. In fact, I’ve made way more than I like to think about. Some of them still bother me. I’ve misquoted sources, misspelled names, missed the point a valued source wanted to make.
Regardless of a person’s view on U.S. military involvement in the Mideast—or anywhere else—most of us respect the men and women who serve, and we appreciate the sacrifices they and their families make to preserve what Americans hold most dear.
