The new Massey Ferguson 4300 Series sets high standards in versatility and customization for the mid-range 55 to 99 hp tractor market. The 4300s also raise the bar on comfort and convenience with their newly redesigned cab and control console.
Hydraulic systems on the 4300 have been beefed up with a standard factory installed selector valve for a higher flow rate at remote outlets, up to 31.9 gpm total flow on PowerShuttle equipped tractors.
No matter which model or options are chosen, dependability is standard on every tractor in the MF 4300 Series. Powered by rugged four-and six-cylinder Perkins engines, these tractors are built to last. Extra power is always in reserve with the Perkins, thanks to the steep torque rise as engine rpms fall under load.
All 4300s also feature Fastram combustion. Ultra high-speed air enters the combustion chamber for precisely controlled power production. With up to eight different transmission configurations on the new tractors, the Perkins power is efficiently channeled to the job at hand.
“Every model, from the 55 hp MF 4325 to the 99 hp MF 4370, has a wide range of transmission options,” says James Hill, sales engineer, Massey Ferguson Tractors. “The 8/2 manual is a very economical and reliable transmission. The top of the line 24/24 PowerShuttle is equally reliable, and offers un-rivaled versatility in speeds with 11 gears in the 3-8 mph range.”
Other 4300 Series models include the MF 4335 at 65 hp, MF 4345 at 75 hp, MF 4355 at 85 hp and the MF 4360 at 90 hp.
Other transmission options include the 12/12 PowerShuttle, 12/12 and 8/8 Synchro-Shuttle and the 12/4 Synchro with first and reverse gears in line for shuttle. Both the 12/12 and 24/24 PowerShuttle transmissions come with the exclusive Comfort Control dial mounted on the steering column. It allows drivers to easily adjust the rate of engagement of the PowerShuttle.
In-cab gear shifting is smoother and requires less effort, thanks to a newly designed gear lever linkage and placement of the gear lever on a right hand console. The one lever selects both main gears and ranges on all transmission options.
Operator convenience and comfort was the prime objective in the re-design of the new high visibility cab. Side post mounted exhaust and relocated window wipers improve visibility, while the new right hand console is laid out for the natural movement of the operator's arm.
In addition to the gear lever, the console is also home to all hydraulic and 3-point lift controls. Up to four spool valves can be controlled from the console. An optional factory installed joystick can operate two of the spool valves for easier and more precise operation of loaders or other attachments.
PTO engagement is also easier in the new cabs on the 4300 Series. A knob located on the console controls the electro-hydraulic PTO engagement. A lever to the right of the console controls selection of the appropriate PTO speed on all models with the 540/1000 rpm PTO option.
MF's optional Electronic Linkage Control (ELC), with its un-excelled accuracy, response and ease of use, has also been relocated to the console. The ELC panel includes rotary knobs for inter-mix, rate of drop and maximum height and a touch sensitive pad for Active Transport Control. Lights indicate lift and lower diagnostics. An ELC “mouse” with lift/lower switch and thumb wheel provides draft adjustment.
Improved temperature controls and heating and cooling capacity add to the comfortable working conditions, as does a new tilt/telescopic steering column. The standard instrument panel also has been upgraded to provide digital readouts of PTO and ground speed. With a dealer installed radar kit, it can also display wheel slip. Other monitoring features are also available with an optional factory installed performance monitor. Digital panels equipped with the performance monitor are pre-wired to accept the Fieldstar terminal.
The Hydralock differential lock is standard on all 4WD drive models. It gives true 4WD drive with both front wheels turning at a proportional speed to the rear wheels.
A new factory installed supercreep option on the 24/24 PowerShuttle transmissions enables tractor speeds as slow as 0.1 mph at rated engine speed. It can only be engaged in low and medium range and automatically disengages when the gear range is changed, making headland turns simple.
