The Texas Rice Belt to face competition for acres

The Texas Rice Belt is expected to face some stiff competition for acres in 2011, particularly from crops like cotton where prices have been on the upswing. But a relatively small increase in input costs and good water availability could help keep rice acres stable, especially on land that is more suited for that crop. Texas A&M’s Larry Falconer discussed the outlook for Texas rice in this interview that followed his presentation at the USA Rice Outlook Conference.
