Jimbo Grissom named President of Western Peanut Growers Association

Ted Higginbottom who has served the past five years as President of Western Peanut Growers Association (WPGA) submitted his resignation for the presidential position at the August 19, 2008 Board Meeting. Higginbottom stated “My decision is due to increasing personal business responsibilities. I plan to continue serving as a Director of the Board and will continue to serve the association in any other manner needed but would like to be released of the duties of the President at this time.”

Jimbo Grissom received overwhelming support of the Board to fill the post with a unanimous backing vote. Grissom has served as a Director of WPGA since 1998, serving as Secretary - Treasurer for the last 5 years.

“Jimbo Grissom has made numerous trips to Washington and has worked closely with WPGA and me on this farm bill from start to finish. Additionally, with his having served on the Association’s Executive Committee for the last several years, I have full confidence in his ability to step into the position and make for a seamless transition. I look forward to serving under his leadership” acknowledged Higginbottom.

“I have a great respect for Ted Higginbottom and the unparalleled leadership which he has provided for Western Peanut Growers Association. He is a natural leader who believes in, and promotes the value of unity and the assets gained from working together. I have learned a great deal from him and his leadership style. I look forward to the challenges that lay ahead.” said Grissom.
