Peanut conference stresses future technology; looks at trade, policy and honors producers

Southern peanut growers took a few days in late July to look to the future at the 17th annual Southern Peanut Growers Conference, held this year at the Callaway Gardens Resort in Pine Mountain, Ga.

Highlights of the two-day conference included and address by Deputy Secretary of Agriculture and Georgia native Krysta Harden; a panel discussion of the future of the peanut industry; the future of peanuts in Washington including trade and policy outlooks.

The annual Farm Press Peanut Profitability Awards breakfast honored three outstanding producers from the Upper Southeast, the Lower Southeast and The Southwest regions.
