Redball introduces UNR hood

Redball is broadening its Lay-By Spray-Hood lineup in 2002 with the addition of an ultra-narrow-row hood and a re-designed post-direct kit that allows infinite adjustment of layby spray nozzles.

The new ultra-narrow-row Lay-By Spray-Hood makes it possible for cotton growers who plant in ultra-narrow rows to extend their Roundup Ready cotton weed-control window.

“Until now, growers with ultra-narrow-rows haven't had the option of making-post-direct Roundup UltraMAX applications,” says Steve Claussen, president of Redball LLC. “Being able to make additional applications allows growers to take advantage of ultra-narrow-rows without compromising weed control.”

The new ultra-narrow-row hood is 10 inches wide and has the same streamlined shape as other Lay-By Spray-Hoods. This allows hoods to glide between crop rows and allows faster travel speeds. The new hoods can ordered with a single spray tip, or with three separate tips. The three-tip option allows herbicide coverage to the base of the cotton plant through side windows in the Spray-Hood.

In addition to the new ultra-narrow-row hoods, hood kits are available for 30-, 36-, 38- and 40-inch row spacings.

The re-designed post-direct kit allows infinite adjustment of layby spray nozzles mounted behind Spray-Hoods. Nozzles can easily be moved in or out, as well as up and down, to optimize weed coverage when applying layby herbicides. The new design is compatible with previous post-direct kits, so existing Lay-By Spray-Hoods can be upgraded to the new design.
