Texas Soybean Board seeks new memberships

Richard Raun, chairman of the Texas Soybean Board and a farmer from El Campo, Texas, has announced the date of the Board's upcoming election for board members. The election will be held by mail on Dec. 17, 2006.

Three farmer directors will be elected — one from the High Plains (Bailey, Briscoe, Castro, Crosby, Deaf Smith, Floyd, Lamb, Lubbock, Parmer and Swisher counties), one from the Gulf Coast (Austin, Brazoria, Calhoun, Chambers, Colorado, Ft. Bend, Galveston, Hardin, Harris, Jackson, Jefferson, Liberty, Matagorda, Orange, Waller and Wharton counties) and one at-large position (any soybean producing area in Texas).

The positions on the board are voluntary and must be held by producers. The Board meets two or three times a year at various locations in Texas. Travel, meals, and housing are provided at the meetings.

Anyone wishing to run for a position on the board should apply to TSB by October 31 by contacting the office (1-800-247-8691 or [email protected]). A nomination form with 10 producer signatures is required.

The Texas Soybean Board is responsible for the allocation of the state portion of the National Soybean Checkoff in the best interest of state producers.
