Wheat crop for the record books coming off in Northeast Texas

Despite two hard freezes, one of which knocked wheat back to the crown, Northeast Texas wheat farmers are completing harvest of what many consider to be the best crop they ever made.  Some farmers report 100 bushel per acre production in some fields.

This marks the third year in a row that the Northeast corner of the state has produced an excellent wheat crop. The rest of the state, however, will cut less than average yields, limited by drought and late freezing temperatures that damaged an already vulnerable crop.
